And us turners like the interesting grain patterns . . . :;
OY!! Come on!! It's this arvo!!!:D:p
How true to life is the screen rendition of colour Mapleman? It certainly is an intense red on screen - you'd swear it was a rosewood of some sort alright.
:) Regards, timboz
Me like the wavey grain and fiddleback. would make some nice inlay pieces or boxes or turned items.
Cheers WC
It's true to life timboz...how you see it is how it is,a rich red color,not unlike Rosewood :;...seemed to dress well too even though the blades are starting to lose their edge...incidentlly,all pieces in this thread from the same 'head' log,salvaged from an old paddock tree that was harvested by loggers a few years ago.They only took Butt log to the first branch and left the rest behind,which was quite a bit :C...and that was only 1 tree out of many...Forest Red Gum can be stunning at times..MM:2tsup:
Nice piece, and wet I can't identify the wood; what is it? did you use any varnish?
Looks like I had best enlarge that display cabinet!!:D
