Timber Benchtops
Hi There,
i'm a newbie to this forum and would like to find a place to purchase timber benchtops for a kitchen renovation. I don't mind if they are solid slab or laminated together and donpt really want mto spend a fortune, as this is a charity case. I live in Balmain NSW, so somewhere close would be good.
I need 2 x 2.5m long x 850 wide and one at 2.4m Long and 850 wide.
thickness is optional at this stage, as i said the budget is not huge.
Anyone that could help point me in the right direction would be a great help.
cheers
Larry

Sorry but I dont think you will have any luck. I made my own and there is a huge amount of work involved. If you wanted a slab, any descent timber that size would be a fortune. Laminated it takes time and tools that are not cheap. The wood for my tops cost $150, for stability I laminated that on yellow tongue at $70, oil cost $33 Sandpaper about $80 bearings for a sander $28 PVC pipe $10 Motor at a bargain $60 pulley and fitting, slab of beer. I have a jointer, thicknesser, table saw, biscuit joiner, doweler, clamps and several forms of sander. The time ? Well I started one year cutting stacking and drying redgum fence posts and I fitted them a year and a half later. So in a nutshell wood tops made by a pro will cost heaps. Done by an amateur, just too much effort to do for somebody else.

We can do 850 x 40 x 2400 Tassi Oak Bench top - Last one we did of similar size was $1188.
If you need some made up we'll be more than happy to help you out. Turn around for bench tops is about 3 days at the moment
