    Default timber for blackboard

    Hi,

I'm nearing the end of my cubby house project.
See this link for progress photos: Cubby house
Now I'm working on the internals, I want to make a blackboard wall ie attach some timber to the internal studs and paint with blacboard paint.

    What timber sheet to buy?

Although the cubby is watertight (so far!) I don't want to use MDF in case it gets damp.
Plywood's surface would be too rough. Someone suggested cement sheet but I've read that its really dense so may be too heavy?

    Any suggestions?

    Tony

How about masonite? You can get it with the white covering which will give a good surface for the blackboard paint.

you could use plywood and cover with plastic laminate

then teh kids can use white board markers or permanent pens -- which will wash off with metho

Late reply - I'm about to make a blackboard for my son, planning on a zincalum covered ply back. Primed/painted, he can then stick magnets to it and draw on it....
