Do you mean Melia azedarach? Also called White Cedar in Australia it is a good wood if you can get a decent log.
I'm not sure if it is as the buds haven't opened and I can't tell the size of the leaves but do a search of Melia azedarach in google images and see if you think it is the same. Easiest to tell when they are covered with yellow berries.

Looks a bit like Schinus terebinthifolius, Broadleaf (or Brazilian) Pepper Tree. A declared weed in Qld & NSW.
I have no experience with the timber.Brian

Looks a bit like pride of Bolivia, but leaf looks a little to pointed.
Large fast growing tree, good shade canopy with yellow flowers.
cheers Mick

Nope - it's an Asian species, but if you mean it has been planted all over the place by people, then you're right. The family it comes from (meliaceae) is certainly world-wide, and includes some famous rellies like Mahogany and our own 'red cedar'. It is 'native' to Aust in the sense it got here by itself, along with many (most?) of our tropical rainforest trees, which marched down from up north somewhere. White cedar may be a fairly recent arrival in the scheme of things, though it probably beat people by a year or two!
But that pic is certainly not white cedar, and the flowers don't look like a Schinus.....
Cheers,IW

Robinia sp??
Does it have mean looking thorns along the stems where the leave nodes are?? Couldn't tell from the picture.
If yes to the thorns then looks a bit like a Robinia. Lots of nurseries flog them in a standard form, as "Mop Tops". We used to have an older tree but cut it down as the thorns and kids don't mix."Rotten to the Core"
