I was out at Mal's one day when he was milling a short Red Cedar log.
The cut timber was pale pink - nearly white.
He said that it would darken with time, and I presume exposure to sunlight.
I was very surprised.
Cheers

I bet this was going on centuries ago:
"You call this Cuban mahogany Mr Hepplewhite? You should have seen the planks I sold to Mr Chippendale!"

I haven't got a "tongue in cheek" smiley.
But don't you think its a bit "pale" for that kind of furniture???
Looking good!!

Stack of timber in Post #32 looks good Dan, but if it was my stack, I'd be sticking another 2 stickers in between what is there now, especially if it was to sit there for the next few months or more, current stickers look way too far apart.
Cheers

I'd second DJ's comment. It doesn't look like enough support for those boards. I'm more familiar with Tasmanian timbers, so maybe I'm out of line with these materials. I know if I left a stack like that in those thicknesses I'd end up with a number of warped boards.
It looks like you are going to have a lot of fun with that pile of wood. I love choosing timber for projects. I have two 8' long 6x6 Tasmanian Blackwood posts waiting for me to finish the shed. It's very old and dark. Not in my skillset to turn it though.
Enjoy your projects.

Totally like that Gumred, though vertical grain with tongue and groove. Should be good.
I don't think I'll have time to restack the pile for a while....My blog: ~ for the love of wood ~ - http://theloveofwood.blogspot.com/

Hi Boz,
I too am looking forward to the WIPs. Shall await the thread patientially. Would love to have that stack in my garage, no matter what colour chart you use to describe it. Beautiful stuff indeed.
Cheers
