    Default Timber ID Help Please

    Hey there,

I need help to identify this timber, It came from thr Goldfields area of WA and was mixed in with some Mulga and Miniritchie, that I got a couple of weeks ago. It has a pleasant aroma when turned, it is reasonably hard, polishes up a treat, I have a picture of the bark and a slice to show Heartwood and sapwood, It smells similar to sandal wood but not quite, Quandong (Spelling ?) it isn't, according to the local guru's.

I hope that someone can help.

Known as the Black Cypress Pine and is a native Australian conifer.
Callitris endlicheri develops into an erect tree with spreading branches. The light green foliage will provide a contrast with other foliage in the garden. The bark is furrowed and sometimes exudes a sticky gum. Aboriginal people used the gum as an adhesive.
The Black Cypress Pine has wide distribution and occurs in many areas of New South Wales as well as Queensland and Victoria.

    Hey Brosh,

That sounds like the tree to me, it has a residue like resin that is around some of the cuts, WoodWrite Oz is taking a sample down to the Oricle to see if he can Identify it on the weekend.
That tree in your Pic looks like the scrub that we used to bash through around Dubbo

    Thanks for your input
