Timber ID Help - Red Mahogany?
Pics - Imgur: The magic of the Internet
Have about 75lm of this stuff, all about 25mm thick, 250mm wide and in various lengths between 1m and 3m.
No experience with hardwoods.
I bought it cheap a few years ago from a furniture maker shutting down in Melbourne. From memory I think he described it as “Queensland Mahogany”, looking around maybe it is ‘Red Mahogany’.
Seems fairly heavy and dense, but I don’t have much to compare it to. Went through the helical-head jointer fine.
A lot of checking on the surface that’s gone a fair way down, looks maybe 20mm thick of non-cracked timber. Lot of jointing in my future to get there.
