Another timber id please
Attachment 326731Attachment 326732Attachment 326730
Any guesses anyone? It was given to me as a plum tree although the owner never seen a plum apparently the neighbour was upset about not having anymore plums. The timber seems light weight and resembles an oak more than a plumb (well any i have seen) it has rather distinct medullary rays and discolours to a dark orange over night. Cheers Joel

Oh goody a lucky dip. I used to get almond wood that discoloured to a dark orange and has a fine medullary ray and the live tree could mistaken for a plum. Is there a prize?

second try! Hope you can see the pics I wasnt game to try and upload any more or add text sorry folks, this is the tree in question, i rough turned a bowl blank yesterday fairly bland timber similar to english oak, the surface of the timber discolors to near the color of the bark, whether the bark was bleeding into the timber i dont know i will have to look at the blank without bark on and see, was nic to turn though, any clues anyone?

Not like any plum I have seen, not an almond. Looks like some kind of fig. Anyway at least the pics have come up. Maybe put up a few more with endgrain and close-ups.
