Default Timber ID - Type of Paperbark

    DSC00080 - Copy.JPGDSC00082 - Copy.JPGDSC00083 - Copy.JPG

The tree was growing on the sand plain in between Wanaroo and Bullsbrook noth of Perth. As can be seen the bark is a paper bark and the timber is a very nice red. The tree was un-rooted and wind-rowed to make way for high voltage power lines. I've had this timber for about 20 years and was in much larger hunks. As the timber was being cut out of the fallen tree it was starting to crack thus when I got it home it all went in the swimming pool for 3 years, I'm not sure if it assited the drying process or not. I dressed the tinber to it's current sizes about 5 years ago and has remained stable. It has now come time to work the timber to which there will be a lot of work to fill the cracks but I know it will be worth it.

So if someone could tell me what type of timber it is would be great.

    Thanks

Looks like Swamp Paperbark.... Very prolific throughout SW WA. Botanical name is Melaleuca rhaphiophylla.

Malaleuca up our way has a beautiful yellowy cream colour colour, not red, but perhaps different down that way Many red bottlebrush trees have a papery bark and the timber is similar to that.
