    Default Timber identification

    Hi all

    im trying identify this timber ...
    - red earthy colour
    - fine straight grain
    - grain look like meranti
    - super light like balsa
    - no aroma when cutting

    Surian Cedar perhaps Randal.
    Comes from Malaysian locations and normally does not have the strong odour of Aus Cedar when working with.

    Hi all

    I did an old man Google ... I didn't realise there was such a range of re like cedars .. .. from Asia, New Guinea etc ... Aussie Red Cedar is in the family

    I bought some of this as Surian Cedar for door jambs so I'm with cool runnings on this one.
