Timber Identification
Hello Woodworking world
I'm reaching out for help to try and identify some timber items I've recently been given.
The timber Blanket Box and the Dressing Table are both very light in weight. I've been told that both are Silky Oak? but that's why I'm here.
The Table has been identified as a Freedom Furniture, imported from India. Any ideas on what species of timber this would be?
I hope the attached photos provide enough detail. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Rob

Not silky oak I’m sorry. The table looks like what the old man used to call rubber wood, it’s similar to a mango tree. The last box looks like a mixture. And the yellow one with black spots Ihave no idea.

Yeah, definitely no silky oak there. I agree with rubberwood for the table, it's a very commonly used timber in SE Asia for the big furniture chains

Add me to the 'table is rubberwood' camp. The dresser looks a lot like some variety of pine the cathedral grain and the endgrain looks a lot like radiata. The blanket box makes me think meranti? It has that grain that looks like short fur, I know, very technical there
