    Default Timber Identification

    Hi All.
This is my 1st post here so please bear with me. An internet novice & an ex Pom. I don't know which is worse.
I live outside Dimbulah in N.Queensland and I've been a woodworker for most of my adult life, from milling (I own a Lucas) to making & restoring furniture. I have quite a few books on trees, but I can't find the one that has it all. I'd like one that has a full description of the tree, timber properties, uses, local name etc, with photos of the tree, bark, leaf, seed pod or fruit, sawn timber, plus the cellular structure. Everything.
Does anyone know if such a bible exists? I've sort of taken matters into my own hands and started making one, mainly for my own use. I've got about 60 timbers (mostly Qld so far) heading towards finish so far, but having trouble getting all the info. If anyone out there has any suggestions on if a book like that exists and where, to save me from having to do it (it's a big project), or if they can help in anyway with websites, other places of info, or their personal knowledge, please get back to me. Thanks. Be safe.

The closest thing I know of to what you're looking for are a couple of books I use for reference but they are for specific regions - to cover all Ozzie species in one book would probably require 90% of Tassies forest to print!
Check out "Australian Timbers - Volume 1, Timber Species of Eastern Subtropical Australia" by Ashley Sewell and "Australian Timbers - Volume 2, Western Queensland trees and their timbers" from Natural Resources Dept.

If you find exactly what you're after, let me know! - would love a copy myself. There's lots of books that cover the trees and lots of books that cover the timber but very few that touch on both
