Cool TIMBER!!! Or a lumberjack strikes!

So with the forthcoming new house build we found we had 5 trees that would land RIGHT SMACK inside the house boundaries including one that would land right in the middle of the living room... nice but a pain to construct a house around

So a few calls were made and a bloke named Steve Hays contracted to come take them down... now if yous mob remember a few years back we had 10 huge Tuarts dropped at our last place in Mandurah this entailed a swag of bodies (7) a cherry picker a bloody great stump grinding machine and a truck to cart the munched smaller stuff away... we kept the logs

This time we went small... 1 bloke a bob cat and a truck with small dog trailer and a couple of chainsaws... But Steve assured us he had been at the game for some years so we thought "ooohkay then" and crossed everything that could be crossed and locked him into a set price which comparitively was about 3000 less than the nearest

Heres the trees that needed to go...

    1) Bloody great Pine (100+ years by its rings)
    2) Camphor Laurel
    3) Three smaller trees (Silky oak first then something else then a Eucalypt of some sort)

    And the first happenings...

    4) the smaller trees down first easy as... Silky Oak still standing
    5) Steve getting stuck into the Silky Oak... wonderfull looking timber this is!! PINK!! yummmoh!

    And moving right along...

    1) 3 down 2 to go

    2) Steve singing "Im a lumberjack an I don care I work all day an... etc" and the reason why I call him a lumberjack... just some ropes a harness a chainsaw some crampons on his boots and up he went with the passing comment "time for some FUN!!" on one of the larger boughs he sat down wrapped his legs around it and cut it off... when the tension let go he fair flew!! yelling YEEEEEEEEEFFFLAMINHAAAAAAAAA!! hung on better than any rodeo rider I ever saw... still hangin onto the chainsaw!! scared the livin doodads outt me I can tell yer mans got steel gonads!!

    3) Half naked Pine tree ready to be dropped

    4) Camphor Laurel almost finished... You can just see the last trunk sticking up above the branches on the ground near the house

    5) ALL GONE!!

Hey Shane, see if you can get him to do an IQ test
    Bob

"If a man is after money, he's money mad; if he keeps it, he's a capitalist; if he spends it, he's a playboy; if he doesn't get it, he's a never-do-well; if he doesn't try to get it, he lacks ambition. If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

    1) She looks flamin NAKED!!! But by the livin harry it sure opened the paddock up eh! Now Im gettin the boys into condom suits and spray packs of poison and they will be spraying the creek acre next weekend to get rid of the major weed happenin down there and in about 2 weeks we will be havin a major tree planting day!... theres the acre down near the creek and up the back our side of the railway tracks that need planting so mucho work to keep the mob active for a day or so So whats come down will come up again 5 trees down 140 planted aint bad eh? and thats just the larger trees not including shrubs and water plants... well I thought it was a good compromise

    2) LOTS of plans for the logs mate... LOTS AND LOTS of plans Specially the Camphor and the Silky oooh yes indeedydoody lots of plans

I was hoping to have Bob wander down in about a month with his BIL mill and do a bit of milling and show me the mill give me some hints on making one etc but Im not sure if thats still on as I read yesty he has scored as much timber as he wants from somewhere else But he might still wander down which will be good if he does
