    Default Best timber to use for ourdoor chest/seat (Located in South East Queensland)

    Hi,

    I was looking into making something like this out the back of my new house: Imgur: The magic of the Internet

    Just wondering what's the best timber to use that would look similar to that photo. That can withstand the weather we get in south east qld.

    Something I can pick up from bunnings would be good but if can order from elsewhere if people think that'd be better.

    Looks like any decking boards available to you will do the job, my favourite is blackbutt in a wide board (132mm). It will look like this on completion.

    note all boards will grey off in the sun even if you coat regularly- personally I like a little greying. If the rain beads on the timber it doesn’t need re-coating.

    More often you coat the less it greys, the less sun it gets the less it greys. Timber is like hair one day it’s going to go grey

    Thanks! Sorry for the noob question. I'll check those out. Looks like there is some Merbau at Bunnings that look ideal.
