Thread: Timber in a Pack lot, what is a Pack ?

Normally it's a cubic metre. Like many things timber is cheaper when bought in bulk and "packs" are a standard portion the supplier likes to deal in.

Whatever the quantity I've bought from them - large or small, they've always given me a good price, even if I've spent an hour or more sorting through packs to pull out the really good stuff.

What about the dimensions of the actual stock?

Do suppliers offer pack lots in different dimensions? or even in mixed dimensions?

Depends on the variety and width. When I've bought t/oak from Matthew's I go for a wider board of 200 which gives me the minimum thickness I want of 19mm. Spotted gum in 200mm plus a bit more comes at 25mm. 180 in s/gum is 19mm - all depends.

To answer your other question: mixed length of the same width and thickness.
