Looks similar to Spotted Gum; does it leach a dark brown tannin when really wet?

Timber I.D
G'day. I'm pretty confident that it is Tasmanian Blackwood (though not necessarily from Tassie). The stain-like dark patch on the top board of the last photo is often present in this species. If I am correct the density will be around 600 to 700 kg/m^3 (mid way between pine and blackbutt, spotted gum etc.
Regards, Timboz

Thanks for this, Timboz. Yes, it all ties in with being Tassie Blackwood.
The density of these 3 boards is 650kg/m3, and I recall now that the guy I was buying some other timber from several months ago was from Tasmania and he said he threw in a few pieces of Tassie Blackwood he brought up from Tasmania when he relocated years ago. I had completely forgotten about that. I have only just got around to dressing them today.regards,
