timber for snow skis - suggestions?
Hi,
I have been building skis for a few years and am really keen on using some native timbers. I have used pawlonia, birch and bamboo in the past, and traditionally, they are made with timbers like ash, maple, birch, spruce, aspen and poplar. Can anyone out there recommend a locally grown timber that would be very stiff when milled into an 8mm plank, but still fairly light, and, ideally, springy and 'lively' when flexed and released? And that I could source in melbourne...
Thanks!
Mark
