Timber Suppliers Newcastle NSW Region?
I am seeking advice where to buy quality timber suitable for craftsmen in Toronto NSW 20k south of Newcastle.
I am setting up a workshop and gathering tools together as best I can. I am retired, age 74 and have been building and repairing outside furniture for my daughter’s house and garden. I have been and enjoy making furniture, small cupboards and boxes etc. Or anything made of timber for House and Garden. Will be making Adirondak chairs, tables too.
So this covers a range of timber requirements from Hardwoods to pine and (until I have the machinery or access to) dressed.
I have been to Hudsons in Glendale but they seem to have limited choice for the dressed timber I want. Also a bit overwhelming with builders and forklifts flying around.
There are various timber suppliers in the area inc the Bunny shop, however I was hoping some like minded locals had some recommendations?

Another option is Marshall’s timber in Cardiff. They have a good variety and prices are very fair

BernMc , a member here on the forum, is a novocastrian, and will know somewhere. When my dad, a joiner, lived at Belmont, he was always complaining about the lack of good timber suppliers up there. He mostly went to Mathews timber, at St. Marys, which is where I go too.

Great to see more of us coming up and along in the area
Here's a couple of places you can take a look at, doubtless there are more:
Marshalls (as above): Products - Marshall's Timbers, Newcastle's Largest timber Stockist
Toronto Timber: Products - Toronto Timber
Carrolls: Home - Carrolls Wholesale Timber
If you want reclaimed/recycled material:
The Building Recyclers: Recycled Building Materials New South Wales | The Building Recyclers
For sawmills, there's two I know of, though they're both a bit of a hike for you, their pricing is keen:
Culoul Sawmills: Hardwood Timber Building Supplies | Culoul Sawmills Colo Heights - These folks mainly do flooring, the pricing is very keen, but with some reshaping, you can easily use this material in other projects.
Sweetman's Timber: https://www.sweetmanstimber.com/ - The only downside here is that you'll need to dry the timber yourself, they don't (from the last time I checked) offer kiln dried, though it'd be worth a phone call in case things have changed.
There's also a Mister Ply & Wood in Lambton: http://www.misterplywood.com.au/
Hope these help!

Great Help Thanks
Many thanks for all the information, a big help.
I will be checking them out.
I have used a lot of recycled timber which has been of immense use. The work bench I built was all recycled.
Thanks again.
