    Default Timber supplies Adelaide

Where does one go in Adelaide to get specialty timbers (small lots/pieces) now that Otto's have closed.

I noticed on one of my social media feeds the other day there is a new specialty timber dealer opened behind Stepney Salvage. If memory serves me correctly I think they were in partnership with Ottos. I wasn’t aware that Ottos had closed, but perhaps this partnership has something to do with it.

If you end up checking it out please post your thoughts. Certainly handy that it’s open Saturday mornings.

Dont think its the same place, but I went into Australian Timbers in Bedford St, Gillman a couple of weeks ago. I needed to get something to make a nice display frame for the partner's Persian carpet. That was after I went to Ottos and found they were closed down.
I bought a big chunk of walnut (they seemed to have plenty of it). Twas expensive, but I suppose all specialty woods are now.

Speaking to the guy there it seems Australian Timber and Otto have a family connection from a while back, but dont have a business link.

PS. Just checked, Mountain River seem to be in Thebarton. They might be better for smaller quantities of wood. The stuff I saw at Australian Timbers was mostly big(ish) planks, rough sawn. But I think it would be worth going down for a look to both places.

went down yesterday and got some stuff.

    smallish bits to larger bits.

Only been opened a month he said.

    Got more stuff coming in.

They had what I wanted...that was all I was worried about...lol

Prices seem on a par with Otto's off-cut store.

I came across a post on Facebook market place for same place - only the address was provided, not the company name, however the poster is Nathan Otto. It might be coincidence but I would suspect there is a connection.
