timber to tasmania
is it ok to take timber on the boat to tasmania? i am going to take some timber with me next month for a few members, want to do it legal of course. bob

However you cannot take plants in so I imagine a dead plant would be the same

It if was debarked and bug free, I can't imagine you'd have any problem.

Tasmania seems to be a bit anal about quarantine, however I can't blame them, its a beautiful place worth protecting!

From the Tas Quarantine site you need to call them before you bring it as there appears to be some concern over European House Borer that is damaging to pine plantations (cant see a problem meself ).
If you can afford to lose it and its not much you can declare it as you get in and they will decide then however that will definately slow your trip and they will probably err on the side of caution and just take it.

just got a reply from tasmanian quarantine and no problems as long as no dirt,bark and must be clean

Dressed hardwood timber which is free from soil, insects and adhering plant material is o.k.

Good onya Bob i am sure Rvs will be pleased,i didn't have any probs bringing timber in but it was second hand but clean,hope to meet you while you are here........
Reguards Tasman .............Tassie woodie We never grow up our toys just get more expensive.......
