    Default Is it suitable?

Have been given three trunk slabs of what is known as "watermelon tree"(Syzgyium Moorei) by my boss who had to have the tree cut down. They are about 600 mm diam by 75mm thick.Looked it up and its a relatively rare tree that originates from Northern Nsw/southern Queensland.Pinkish flowers and fruit grow from the trunk itself, the fruit hanging like little melons.
I realize it will need a fair amount of drying time, but was wondering if anyone else has turned this type of timber or will I be wasting my time and have to make the boss a bowl out of something else.
    Would greatly appreciate any information

Not familiar with the tree but sounds like it would be worth to give it a try.

Certainly more up this way than down yours. Often planted as park/garden tree up this way. Could never understand how trees can be declared vulnerable when you can easily buy them for $2.95 to plant in your own garden
