Timber tree slices and weddings
Have supplied quite a few for weddings, so thought I would post photos of the latest camphor tree slices, around 500mm wide along with another shot showing smaller slices and some small 'trunks' on which candles are placed
Thanks
Greg

It does seem that more people are getting this idea of having part of a tree on the table.

Well done Greg. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to tap into that gold mine. Add wedding into the mix and the profit you will get out of those would be more than if you spent the time creating fine furniture.

wedding gold mine?
Don't think that providing a full wedding service would suit an old grizzled retiree, now turned grizzler farmer (and boy can I whinge about cattle prices, rates and bureaucracy).
There may be gold there, but it's like being a travel agent..... a lot a dealing with people and problems....I really don't see myself setting up flowers on tables and arranging white Hummers.
I'll stick to slices

Wedding Slices
I have been asked many times for those wedding cake slices over the last couple of years, every piece I cut ended up splitting. I have been looking for a decent dry log since.
Well done

splitting
As they dry..... they will split, but even so, not too badly and a small split adds to the feature of the timber.
These are wet, and will not split when sanded and oiled and used in the next month or so.
They are camphor, good colour and OK with food (same as cutting boards) if prepared properly.
I have seen bloodwood with no splits after 6 months if cut thin and dried slowly.

Yes Joe, though hardly any demand for a year or two, I think there must be a new wedding fashion now.
I can cut some if you need.
