Timber for Ute tray
A friend of mine is doing up a WB 1 tonner and is having trouble finding 30 lengths of T & G Jarrah (or a similiar timber but not tas. oak) x 2700 long for the tray.
Can anyone recommend a place in Melbourne that will supply that number at that length ?
Cheers,
Sam

Why not tassie oak? or for that matter stringy bark? the nice straight grain with the occasional resin pocket/inclusion looks very nice when lacquered. Try mathews timbers in rooks rd vermont they have a very extensive range, many timbers better than jarrah. Blackwood would look #### hot with darker colours or reds or even forest reds for the reds and burgundys. It looks even better when "gel coated"

Wouldn't there be too much risk of Blackwood moving in such an application??

Another suitable timber would be Tallowwood (euc microcorys),got mine from Nullabor Timbers(Echuca/Moama).Down Melbourne way try your recycling timber merchants or the furniture makers who profess to using recycled timbers. You could even try the trading post or ebay, good luck.

Thanks for the replies.
I'll tell him about your suggestions. He doesnt want to use Tas. Oak because the colour wont match the paint job !!!
