Default Going tp tassie in february

I'm going to Tassie in Feb, and along the way will be looking at timber to buy.
Fly in to Hobart - Strahan - Fly out of Launceston, over about 3 weeks.
Any purchases will be coming home in a vehicle.

Any suggestions of places to call in would be appreciated, thanks.

Spent 2 weeks in Tassie end of November. Highly recommend a tour of the Wooden Boat Centre.

lt was the only wood related place we visited on the trip unfortunately. Wife was not keen but ended up really enjoying it. Easy 40 minute drive from Hobart.

There is so much to see in Tassie you really need 3 months.

Agreed. Island Specialty timbers is about 5 kms outside Geeveston, and will require careful navigation to find. Worth it.

Wooden Boat Centre is also great, and on the road to Geeveston.

And while in Geeveston, be sure to go to Maaaski's for sushi, best in Tassie.

Second this, but you have to pre-plan.

Masaaki is midway through converting an ugly church hall into a Japanese restaurant, multiple delays through planning issues, covid, tradies, materials, etc. In interim he runs a food van from 11.30 am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, only. He puts 34 cups dry rice in his rice cooker each morning, and when he runs out (often early) he closes shop.

Even for takeaways - the only service at present - you really should book or you might miss out. It really is that popular. Nearby park is a great place for a sushi picnic - there are platypus in the creek.

Old Bank Restaurant, across the road, is also very good.
