    Default Treated Pine

    Hi,

    I'm in the process of putting up a picket fence, just wondering about treating the cut outs that i make for the rails...is there a product I should use to re-treat the timber where i make my cuts? If so, what is it called and where can I get it from?

    If it's treated pine, then it's treated all the way through: don't need to do anything.
    Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

    Been using this stuff for years, Mixed with water it makes 2.5 litres. Most think treated pine needs no endgrain protection, thats why I see piles of treated pine fencing at the tip.

    Unless you particularly want to check out the posts for the rails, it is better for longevity to screw them directly to the face of the post with a 75mm batten screw. Minimises the areas where rot will start. If you must cut them, either prime with a couple of generous coats of primer ready for painting, or if you're not painting then use CN timber oil.
