    Default What is this tree???

    G'day everybody,

These are unfortunately the only photos i took of this tree. Located in Dungog. I am tossing up between some sort of ribbon gum or mountain gum. I don't have any photos of the flowers at all, but i do know the leaves alternate in structure.

Can anyone hazard a guess as to what this tree could be?

    Cheers

    Johnny

Grey gum at a guess. It has a reputation as a heavy engineering timber.

I also think it is grey gum. We used to log a lot of it for sleepers etc. The photo of the lower trunk looks typical with flakey rather than ribbon bark.

    cheers

Grey gum, would that be Eucalyptus punctata?
