What is this tree???
G'day everybody,
These are unfortunately the only photos i took of this tree. Located in Dungog. I am tossing up between some sort of ribbon gum or mountain gum. I don't have any photos of the flowers at all, but i do know the leaves alternate in structure.
Can anyone hazard a guess as to what this tree could be?

Red Gum? Forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm used to Queensland trees

Grey gum at a guess. It has a reputation as a heavy engineering timber.

I also think it is grey gum. We used to log a lot of it for sleepers etc. The photo of the lower trunk looks typical with flakey rather than ribbon bark.
