    Default Tree Identification

    Hi All,

I was hoping someone might be able to identify the tree this piece came that from in the Rockhampton area and whether it is suitable for turning or not.

    Cheers,
    Nev

Nev how long since that cut was made in the photo? Keep an eye on how long it takes to split from the heart if it takes a while (2-3 weeks) then you'd probably have no trouble turning it, if it splits quickly ( like within the day) it'd pay to rough turn it, then dry it before finishing whatever you're making.

As for species, I can't tell ya - sorry
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

The bark and wood look very much like a cherry laurel, but the leaves don't so much... Give it a whirl- like weisyboy said, if its woody, turn it. if it doesn't work out, burn it!
