I made a trip to Anagote Timbers in Marrickville today and picked up lengths of Huon Pine, White Beech and Camphor Laurel as well as some Jelutong and Mahogany off cuts thrown in. Since the birds I make are about 25x50x100 these length plus the cedar I already have should last me a very long time. With materials costs being so low overall I figured I might as well be carving out of nice timber. The damage wasn't too bad at $58 for the lot.
