    Default Tulip wood

    Hi all,

I recently got my hands on a heap of off cuts from a joinery company in Sydney. There were multiple species but first time I've come across Tullip wood. This stuff comes from the states and I'de like to use it for spoon making and the like but can't seem to find anything on the safety of using it for such.does anyone know if I can use this for spoons and butter knives or am I only able to use for box making. Thanks,

Poplar | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Hardwood) and American tulipwood hardwood I AHEC this might help you. At a guess I would say that it is fine to use for spoons and butter knifes. If you don't mind me asking which joinery shop did you get the offcuts off as I am always looking for a supply of good offcuts for small furniture/ turning projects

What colour is the Tulip wood? The true American stuff is as Wood Collector indicated, but if it is Brazilian Tulip Wood (that you can get from the USA), it is a pink and white striped Rosewood (see https://cookwoods.com/collections/tulipwood)

I’ll get a pic of the spoon I made last night when I get back after work. The timber is. White colour, not the Brazilian
