    Default what type of stain to use?

    i am planing on making a chair like the one pictured below.I am wanting to use oregon as the timber. what colored stain should i use to try to replicate the look? Cheers WC

    from the picture it seems to have a red tinge, (may just be me). A dark mahogany or teak stain may be what you're looking for. You could pop down to your local Mitre 10, preferably with a sample of the wood and you will able to try a range of different stains to achieve your desired result.

    i might head to bunnings at some stage and have a look at what stains they have. the main problem is i only have a picture of the chair and a web address. so it is not like i could go and take my own photos and measurements. i am also going to have to modify a chair plan that is similar to this chair as currently i have no plans. If any one knows any ways to design plans from an image could you please let me know. Cheers WC
