    I think its a very weathered split "Western/Inland Rosewood" or what we QLDer's call "Clermont Rosewood" post

    Certainly looks like a desert acacia of some sort with all the sapwood gone. Inland Rosewood is a good bet but there are many that end up looking like that

    Looks like waddywood (Acacia peuce) to me with the sapwood weathered away. A log I have looks almost identical to that with a very dark purple heartwood, One of teh hardest and heaviest woods in the world. Thats my bet.
