Untreated Baltic Pine Weatherboards
G'day,
Could anyone tell me whether I should be wary of using untreated baltic pine weatherboards? The supplier recommends "sealing" both sides but didnt know with what.
I thought I would probably paint them as well- would both be necessary.
Are these boards just going to rot like crazy, having not been treated, as I dont believe that painting and/or sealing them will protect them much from rotting or insect attack.
I dont think that Baltic pine is inherently more resistant than, say, Pinus Radiata, is this correct?
thanks,
Stan

Paint will protect baltic quite well, it won't protect radiata very well at all.
Boards that have their backs painted are less likely to rot where they overlap the bottom board.

I painted the back of my boards with any old paint I had sitting around. Good way to use it up, or very cheap to buy.
