Default Value of Red Cedar Billet?

    Some guidance please.

An elderly widow of a friend has a nice billet of red cedar which is quite old and has been hanging around the shed for many years. Most likely one of those pieces that woodworkers accumulate that are too good to use and as such never seem to get consumed. It’s a nice straight bole probably about 400-500consistent diameter and around 1100 long. There is some minor end grainchecking but it seems to be nice and solid and of very good colour and density. If I buy it I would most likely cut it up into turning and carving billets. I’m familiar with what red cedar brings in board form but can anyone offer some guidance on what would be a fair price to pay given it would as a private sale.

hmm, dry whole log & end checked, short and relatively small dia, so probably young tree or just a branch of an old one. Possible good colour due to age but still work to be done before useful, so ~ $50?

If the sap wood is still on it, there goes another 100mm, unless the borers have already eaten it off.
Good log usually sells for between $500-$1000/m3.
