Hope it goes well DJ.
I still have a few hours of "paint stripping" on my recycled timber stash to get the last use out of the old cutterhead before I can change mine over. This timber is so damn hard and the blades are getting blunter and blunter. I might reach the point of diminishing returns before I run out of painted timber.
Cheers

Thought I'd better update for those wanting to know.
I am in the middle of changing the cutter head at the moment, only just doing it now as the before mentioned Blackwood job didn't go ahead, but he needs me to machine some stair threads so time to change it.
At this stage I have everything apart and is now ready to install the new head but will pick up a new set of bearings and a seal in the morning beforehand.
This is what my thicknesser looks like at the moment.

Time to strip the machine down would be about an hour if I didn't stop to take pics etc.
Once I have finished the install, I will start a new thread with a photo tutorial and what tools and replacement bearing and seal numbers are needed.Cheers

Hanging out to see the new thread, I have the same machine as you and want to upgrade it when funds permit. I'm particularly interested in how much noise reduction there is, I've been doing so much machining with mine lately that I'm waiting for the neighbors to start throwing bricks through my windows......
How have the inserts in your jointer held up since you upgraded?

Justin, at this stage I can say they have really held up well as I have only used it two times since installing it One of the times was on some of the Sheoak as mentioned previously and the client used it for a shelf and there was no sanding involved from what I heard, which reminds me, said client owes me a six pack of beer
Cheers
