Voids in Victorian Ash - should I be concerned?
Hey guys
I've been using Victorian ash for a guitar neck and have noticed some little voids/cracks here and there as per the picture. Is this something to worry about, structurally? My plan has been to try and stabilise them using sawdust+CA or epoxy - would this be appropriate? Just yesterday, the glue join along one of the laminations came apart (as detailed in a thread on the Musical Instrument forum), and so I'm wondering if it's worth doing a complex fix involving sawing out the middle lamination and replacing, or if these little voids are telling me the whole thing was doomed from the beginning anyway?

Integrity is the most important feature for a guitar neck. Unfortunately, your photo shows this timber to be wanting. The two most obvious faults are the cracks (too fast drying) and grain run out (grain not running straight through the length of the timber. The chances of this material staying straight are pretty slim.
