Default large walnut tree for sale

we have a large walnut tree we need to cut down and possibly sell. Does anyone know if there is a market for these? We have heard that tree millers or furniture makers could be interested, however, haven't had much luck in finding contacts....

I'm sure a miller will be along any time now who could help you with your Walnut tree, but they will likely accept the tree in exchange for the cost of felling it and removing it.

I'll put my hand up straight away as an interested party in some of the timber. To any potential millers of this tree, please, please, please don't run it all through as the normal 2" slabs. Nobody want's 2" Walnut! Much more useful are 1-1/8" and 1-1/2" boards and 3" x 3" and 4" x 4" squares for legs. I'm very interested in some of the latter two sizes!

Woodturners like Walnut wood very much
And for that , 2 inch slabs are fine for platters . Thicker slabs for bowls .
And logs/branches left in the round , if they have to be cut , then cut to a length that is at least one and a half times the diameter of the log.

Standard firewood lengths tend to be too short .

You might have difficulty finding some one to mill it if it has been in suburbia... I once asked someone if they would milll a tree for me, they declined stating that they could never be sure if it was free of nails or wire...
I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it

Thats true . The first 2-3 meters are the part to look out for , and any obvious treehouse areas.
But , at the cost of having a tooth or three pinged off a saw chain , the wood rewards can be well worth the risk

American and Black (Juglans nigra) are one and the same. European Walnut (Juglans regia) has a greener hue and more figure.

Would you let me know please if your hillbilly does negotiate for this tree successfully, as I would dearly like to place an order with him for some thicker stuff.
