    Default What to do?

G'day everyone, My name is Geraint. I am fairly new to woodworking and am seeking a spot of advise.
I was recently given an old apple tree. It was cut down on 20th July and I painted the ends with parafin wax the next morning.
Although I have passed a bit on to friends I still have quite a bit left including the trunk which is 4 ft long the first 11" is 11" across the next 2' is 8"-9" across and the last foot branches off to 4 pieces between 4"and 6" across.
Eventually I would like to use to trunk for turning bowls, making bandsaw boxes and the like, but, as I have not decided what to make out of each section I have not cut or split it.
Should I decide soon and cut it up or would it be O.K. to leave it in one piece for quite some time?
Although the wax is holding on the edges the middle parts have bowed out a bit with moisture behind it. Will this cause rotting? Should I take off the old wax and re-wax it?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Geraint.

not sure about apple but many woods split unless they are half or quarter sawn. I'd cut it soon and re seal the ends if required.
