Hi
I suggest if it was cleaned (sanded or planed) up so you can see colour etc you would have more chance ID. And any other info such as density? Is it heavy or light/
cheers
cheers

Hello,
The wood is not mine so i can't plane or sand it.
I have some information about the weight
3 pieces together weight 58 Kg
the measurements are
168 x 95 x 1598
172 x 96 x 1635
177 x 96 x 1086
this is about 0,070955 m3
the wood is from a guy and he thinks it could be Merbau
Thanks for your time,
jandc

Don't look like merbau and I think it only grows in Asia.

I was going to say that its a bit like guessing whats in the paper bag, but
now I see it is stamped honduras and your situated in Belgium. So we
might have to be blindfolded as well. Best of luck .

Hi Jan,
its customary to get a sample sent for proper identification and Im willing to volunteer to help. Seriously though it needs to be cleaned up if we are to rely on the pictures. If it is from Honduras it might be Honduran Rosewood Honduras Rosewood Dalbergia Stevensonii or even Walnut Exotic Hard Woods | Specialist Timber - Chechen"We must never become callous. looks like honduran lumberwood to me. it could honestly be anything, Density wise it is of a moderately high density, and it is definetly a hardwood species (pored) as for being merbau, it is possible but looking at what the photos show I would think probably unlikely.
Really need some more detail. If you were to slice a very thin piece off of the end of one of the boards it may give us more of an idea as to the colour and grain and perhaps sand a small section to expose its grain colour and figure. short of this any guess would be a complete stab in the dark.I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.

My teacher thinks it looks like some kind of softwood, spruce, pine or something like that...
Can anyone recognize it?

Certainly looks like a softwood. It looks a lot like radiata pine.
Cheers

ok I find it hard to believe that the first pics have planed to that. the first pics look somewhat like weathered merantii or a pored hardwood such as a eucalypt but the last pic looks like a bit of pine (pinus radiata). it definetly is not merbau!!!
