The timber comes under two names, Saltalus Grindupus, and Pepperus Chopupalus.

Ignore 'em, they are winding you up.... Saltalus Grindupus = Salt Grinder

It looks like one of the Wattles that grows up here but I can't say for sure.
Where'd you get it or who did you get it from?

I do not know what the wood is, but it has a distinctive grain, an looks well seasoned.

I agree that it looks different to the Black Wattle.

We have a house on the Southern Tablelands between Milla Milla & Malanda about 30 something Kms for Atherton. I got some timber from a dead tree that blew over 2 cyclones ago & it looks similar. Going on the shape of the tree (no leaves left) it lookes like a wattle that grows thereabouts.

It didn't smell like Camphour did it? There's a fair bit of that up there too.

No camphour, just made me cough a bit. The father in law just brought a trailer full of blanks back from there. (From the old fella shed) Heaps off cedar silky oak a bit of gidgee maple and some hairy oak. I'm a very lucky lad.
