    Default Wood id please

    Hi all my parents bought this piece of wood 8 years agon and have been using it as a mantle piece up untill now,it was given me as i want to build a speargun out of it.
    I is about 1.68m long and weighs a ton seriously it is very heavy,does anyone have an idea of hat it is?it is currently at a work shop being cut to my dimensions so i will post more close and better pics of the clean cut grain when i pic it up.

    Welcome to the forums.

    What colour is it, your photos seem to vary from red to yellow to brown. Also, is it from South Africa, or from some where else?

    What grit did they use when sanding the pieces? based on the close up for a sanded finish it looks rough
