wood identification of slab table
IMG_0448[1].jpgHi I was hoping someone could help me identify the wood this table is made of. Ages ago I made this slab bush table which I bought as a slab at the Newcastle woodworking festival and the seller told me it was Huon Pine. I am currently trying to sell the table and have it advertised as Huon Pine. After several inquires into the type of wood I decided to research the wood just in case. I found it also looks similar to Hoop Pine. I am now wondering if I've misidentified the wood. I don't know if it can be identified from this picture but would be greatful for any advice.

Hoop
Looks like Hoop Pine, Huon by now would have aged to a golden yellow and I've never seen Huon with as many branch knots.
If it is Huon, you will have little fruit fly attracted by its scent sitting on the bare timber. Do you see any?

Re: wood identification of slab table
I agree with Greg that it doesn't look like at all like Huon. I've had the joy of working a lot of Huon over the years although I've never used Hoop. You could do a Google image search of both species to get a better idea.

Not Huon.
Most likely Hoop. Perhaps Bunya, but more likely Hoop.

If it was huon the smell would instantly give it away - unmistakeable.

As others have said, it is a real pine, not Huon.

Bunya Pine for sure
To muy mind this is a piece of Bunya Pine due to the placment and numer or branch knots, Also the colour is a slightly honey hued a feature of Bunya.
