wood selection for year 12 major work
Hi i am currently in year 12 and are doing design technology as one of my subjects. I am now at the point in my major work of choosing my timber. I have decided to make a wooden frame for a BBQ unit that i have received off one of my dads mates and was wondering what would be the best timber to use for the inner(softwood) and outer frame(hardwood)? It will be and outside piece of furiture so it must be resiliant to heat and weathering or could i just use an oil or lacquer on the timber? Im open to suggestions thanks

Lord, I've got about 50 ton of bluegum just dying to become some worthwhile project, but a bit far away for ya.
If you can get it, try some red stringybark. I think the grain in it and the colour it has is terrific when dressed, rough sawn it doesn't look very special, but once you plane her up... PHEW!!I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
Allan.
