Bunch of new stuff in there too, some I reported on in the past, some new to me. Such as

    1000W triton router
biscuit jointer (that was originally going to be in the US only)

    AND WHAT LOOKS HUGE!

The 1000W and the 1400W are both depicted with the new (3 years old in the US) collet YAY!!! Finally, the awesome collet that we have discussed so long on here (similar to the Festool design) looks like it is finally going to be here as well. Of course, I hope it isn't that the wrong photo was used for the catalogue........

There are a bunch of other new tools in there as well, but they were already reported on Stusshed.com

I gave up on getting this new type of collet and bought the Festool router.

Oh bugger. Haven't read the catalog that closely yet. Knew it was available in the US - thought from seeing it in the NZ/Oz catalog that it was coming here.

Will have to read the thing more closely. Thanks for the heads-up.

Wonder if the router collet will be "not available in NZ/Oz" as well?

The biscuit joiner looks very similar/identical to the existing and already available GMC BJ110M one anyway. Just different colour. Maybe being marketed overseas in Triton colours and they are just keeping the GMC branded one for sale in Australia, hence why no oz availability on the Triton one?

Noticed that the term Magnesium in the tool name had been chinographed out for many items, although the castings in the sample pics seemed to still have it deeply embossed into them. Suggests that there are a lot of late changes coming through, or that the cat is not representative of the actual products here.

Good Onya Dave! A few of us have been waiting for this one...

Looks like a fair bit of new gear, most of which was previewed in Stu's Cyber-Shed article about a month ago. Some noteworthy observations:

    1) Going by it's position in the catalogue, I should mention this later, but in terms of what may be read into it, I'll mention it first: The Workcentre (and the Powered Saw Table, and the Mini and Maxi Extension Tables for that matter) are still there in the catalogue, in all their glory, but now towards the rear of the catalogue. Can't see any differences to the current models, but pull me up if I'm wrong. New position towards rear of catalogue may be pre-conditioning us for something or other in a pre-emptive way (ie. deletion in another year or so, or a move away from reliance on it to underpin the range)

    2) So there's three routers now?! Aye Carumba! The newie - an even babier Baby - comes with the winder handle as standard, but no "clutch" or "handbrake", so to speak, for rack-and-pinion height changing. Winder handle aint standard on the two larger models. Available in Jan '09 (yeah, we've all heard that before...), I wonder what the retail price will be on the new baby?

    3) The baseplate on the new 9.25" Circ looks just as good as on the old legendary TSA001 (it looks pretty much like it's out of the same factory, actually), but the "superstructure" looks stiffer and more solid. Yet the whole kit weighs a little less - thanks to Magnesium they'll tell us no doubt. Should be a bluddy good saw!

    4) As many of you can see, the 12" double-bevel SCMS is a GMC ring-in. Nothing wrong with that, as long as the GMC unit is a "Goodie" (has anyone got the GMC one yet, and are you happy with it?) Makes sense for GMC to confine the more expensive Bells 'n Whistle gear to the Orange label, and keep something like the single-bevels as Bluey's. The Orange one is due in Jan '09. Might mean the current bunch of Blue double-bevels might shift in the meantime at clearance prices. We'll see. I note that the short-lived and overpriced Orange 184mm non-sliding Compound Mitre Saw is nowhere to be seen in the new catalogue...

    5) Two of the three new planers are GMC ring-ins (ie. the Triple-Razor, and the Palm Planer). Again, this could mean imminent discount on the current Bluey's. The completely new Unlimited Rebate Planer is - as far as I know - the only planer in the world with variable speed. Pity, therefore, that it only takes Slithers and not Planing Knives, because otherwise it would be ideal for planing out very shallow grooves in plasterboard (at low speed, with an extractor attached) along joins that you want to retape and refill. What happened to the TP720, by the way?

    6) The Belt Sander and the Dual-Mode Random Orbital appear to be completely new.

    7) The new Cordless Lithium Rotary Tool was going to be a GMC originally, but I don't think it ever made it to the shelves. The 5in1 Spin Saw (aka the Rotary Tool on Steroids...) is gone altogether.

    8) The previously Blue Dowelling Machine makes a comeback after a hiatus of a couple of years, but in Orange livery this time. Don't get too excited guys - it's no Mafell...

    9) The current Router Table is still there, but no sign of the Portable Powered Router Table that was in Stu's preview a month ago. Pity, because even though the thing was obviously coming out of one of GMC's Baby-Router-Table factories, it nonetheless obviously had wheel-wind height adjustment, and a split fence configuration without the shim-type adjustment of the current unit, plus an adaptor for 4" hosing. Could have been interesting...

    10) Even though the Steel Cutter's gone from the catalogue, there's now two Angle Grinders! (although by the sounds of it, the only difference between the two will be about 13mm of guard size...)

    11) Worth noting that the Powered Respirator is still there, but still doesn't have a removable/swappable Battery Pack...

    12) No sign of a replacement for the Cordless Plunge Drill. Maybe they've licenced the Patent out to one of the Big Boys? Twas a brilliant Drill...

Now, it all looks very good, and reeks of "commitment" to the brand, but the biggest question remains still unanswered - namely:

WHO'S GOING TO BE SELLING IT?

And Cheers to Aberdeen! Hope you are One Very Happy Man tonight Champ

    Best Wishes Guys,
    Batpig.

New catalog does look good, and hey, who can complain about lots of new tools.
I'll be having a close look at the new saw shortly - going to be very interesting doing a side-by-side with the old one.
