    Default 1400 router probs

The machine is in a table and I am trouble getting the collett lock to disengage.
I use the handle winder to pull it upm to engage the lock. Once I changed the bit I cant get the handle winder clutch thingy to release and usually end up with it crashing down the full depth when it come ulocked by pressing in the plunge selection button . The handle winder clutch seems to get locked and have to squeeze the plunge selection button in pretty tight before she gives way. I wisht I could let it go down smooth without that smash as it bottoms out.

    What am I doing wrong??

    1400 router probs
If your router has 1400 problems, it's time to get a new one.

Occasionally you can get the router winding gear just at the point where it is a tight fit between the meshing of the gears, and the shaft lock. (I have the reverse problem, getting the shaft to lock). The simple solution is to use the microadjuster first - freeing up the main gears.

Aside from this problem what do you think of the 1400, would you recommend it?

What table do you have it fitted toO, A WC or home made?

Omm not really a problem just getting to know the machine
It is a very nice router , definitely a precision machine.
    Stuarts suggestion worked pretty good

I got it in a home made piece of 1/2" ply on a ally plate slung between the wings of the table saw...primitive by the standards set by these guys here but it does what I need it to easy as

great router you should get one
at $288 you'll find nothin near it
