Default Will my 2000 Router plate fit the Mk3 in Cross Cut mode

Hi all. I want a second triton and thinking of a Mk3 (based on affordability). I already have a 2000 series. I will be using the Mk3 in crosscut only ang leaving the 2000 in Rip mode. I need to find out two things. 1. Will the crosscut router mounting plate from my 2000series fit in the aluminium slides on the Mk3 with respect to the channels and the distance between the two aluminium channels? 2. Is the length of the crosscut (whether a saw or a router mounted) the same length for both the Mk3 and the 2000? Thanks- Tony.

    Default OK. Question 1 answered.

Have found out that the distance between aluminium rails are same on 2000 & MK3. So the mounting plates on the tracks are interchangeable.
Now I just need to find out the maximum length of the cross-cut on the 2000 and the MK3 if anyone can please assist. Thanks.

May I suggest, if this usually very knowledgeable and very helpful forum does not come up with the answers, you could try here Triton Owners' Club (A.C.T) Inc. - Home they have lots of information in their library and some very experienced Triton users.

I'm pretty sure that the saw plates are completely interchangeable; when the 2000 first came out it was supplied with the older cast plate from the MKIII but this was superceded by the pressed steel version designed for use with the Triton saw. I'm pretty sure the cutting length of both systems are identical too. If you still have your manual etc for the 2000 system it should tell you it's max capacity and if you google the MKIII manuals you should find that out too.

I'm negotiating with my neighbour to part with his doggy old MKIII so I can have it set up permanently as a docking saw. If he does part with it I'll be ditching the cast plate anyway and buying the steel one so I can mount my second Triton saw on it. I've also got the router plate to allow me to cut trenches quickly. My 2000 series is permanently fitted with dust collection so whenever I need to dock anything wider than my chop saw can handle I end up having to set up my panel support frame and cutting with a handheld circular saw, and I am one of those people who cannot keep a benchtop clear for greater than 60 seconds which makes setting up for routing trenches a PITA too. Having a second work centre will help!

Why not make a crosscut sled for the 2000?

The reply from the Triton Owner's Club ACT is that the plates are interchangeable.

The actual width that can be cut in one pass is much less than 600mm. the table will accept a piece 600 wide, but the width of cut is dependent on the saw and where the rear of the blade is in relation to the plate It may require one pass, spin the board 180 and cut the remaining.
