Question 2000 Workcentre or Mark 3?

    What are the differences?
Which do you recommend, and why?

    Cheers

use the search function. There is already a thread on this exact question.

The 2000 is better, better fence, easier to fold out the legs and wheels, probably some other stuff.

To get you started, here is a recent thread on this subject:
    http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ad.php?t=73354

As you can imagine, it has come up several times before, so a search should get you several threads which should give you enough facts and opinions to confuse...

Thanks guys, I've followed the link and found all the info I need. Seems 2000 is the way to go if Triton is the choice.

If this helps any - the MK3 was superseeded 12 years ago. You can no longer get parts for them.

I'm pretty sure parts are available, but have the 200 so haven't needed them. Havinf said that, parts are only needed if you lose them (means you weren't using them often enough anyway) or break them

If you're buying second hand than the complete MK3 with upgrade to the include the saw raising gadget is the better option as there is very little difference between them and the table top is better constructed. I still have one and have used it of many, many years before upgrading to a TS.

On the other hand if you're buying new together with the Triton saw, the dust collection, saw raising gadget and the attachment to to cut at angles than a dedicated cabinet saw becomes a viable alternative. So do the sums and look at the alternative.

Yeah it's a dilemma. I've done a lot of work with the mk3, but I'm fed up with the work required to get everything square and accurate. The fence on the 2000 is MUCH better.

The triton is more portable, and can be packed away where workshop space isn't available. But they scratch, rust, and if your not careful bend and misalign.

A W2000, RTA300 and a saw will cost you $850. You can buy that contractors saw at TTD with router table extension, 2 fences and a mobile base for that. Less compact, heavier, can't remove the saw for hand use, but a much nicer thing to use. Just depends on your situation...
