Assembly Woes
I am attempting to put together my new work centre 2000, and after watching the video and reading the instruction I am having problems with upper silver bearing channels.
One end seems to slide up fine, but the opposite end appears to be about 5 - 6mm too short to achieve the same lock in. Is there any obvious reason for this to occur?

best thing i can suggest without more specific details is to loosen off EVERY bolt you have tightened, give it a good shake and see if it lines up then. if it does then tighten it all up again and it should be no worries, if not post the results here and we will see what we can do.

Thanks Doug, I tried that and it seemed to get closer..but still no bananas. I then had a flash of inspiration and called bunnings where I had seen a Triton Demonstrator this morning.
Woody (from this forum)came out after the demonstration and solved my problem for me in about ten minutes.
Great after sales service.
Thanks/

Doug,
Spartan had simply tightened up the bolts as he went. He had tigntened the bolts connecting the Base Channels and the End Panels. This caused the top of the End Panels to spread apart an extra 5 to 6mm, once the bolts were loosened the upper nearing channels fitted properly.

Once fitted together then fasten. Also checking that the table top will fit.
The first WC I installed, I had the same problem but the second was oh so easy. Clever after the event. It also helps to assemble the WC next to the video.

Bearing Channels
This is a good thread, as this problem comes up about 1 in 200 Workcenters that we sell here. (Wish I had hundreds of these problems at the same ratio!)
The length of the base channels is not critical, however the distance between the cavities from end to end is.
If you come up against this problem, first check that both bearing channel cavities line up. Occassionaly, if not vrey rarely, for reasons unknown, a phantom MK3 bearing channel is placed into the WorkCenter box by the gremlins in the night. MK3 channel is about 11mm longer than WCA201. If this is the case, simply get a replacement. Given the time passed since the MK3 left production, can only put these mysterious apperances down to producers of the Twilight Zone looking for new material.
Now for the harder and more likely fix.
When assmebling the WCA201, it is all lovely and floppy as you assemble it loosely, until the bearing channels are installed. These are to the work center what the string is to the bow (bow and arrow type bow, not buttons and bows). The bearing channels pull the end pannels into position and equidistant at each side, though the shape can still end up a parrallelagram.
When the bearing channel is 5 to 6 mm short, as advised, losen the bolts, spread the legs of the WCA while pushing the yet to be attached end pannel toward the fixed bearing chanel. It should in almost all cases be able to be clicked in.
Woody, great follow up service. Thank you.
Steve
p.s. this too is one of the problems that is effected by the powdercoat layer. A bit too thick here or there is all it takes to cause us to remember our french.

Barry,
no doubt that Woody did what Doug told me to do...I has tried that with my reported limited success prior to Doug posting his response. Woody had also arrived and fixed the problem before I could get back to read the forum for further confirmation.
All in all a quite happy with the results...I dropped Triton a quick note of appreciation as well.
So thanks again to Woody and all those who responded. I can now start the dog house I have been asked to build by the boss. I'll be sure to make sure it will cater for more than just the dog
