Ever since Triton was sold to Hills the company basically stagnated under the rule of accountants. Profits had to be maintained and R & D and quality control suffered.
Sure, after sales service remained to fix the myriads of little problems ( like ruler arm printing, nuts missing, adjustment knobs needing filing down etc ) but this was never needed under George's ownership. Also under his reign there were very few bargains to be had from factory seconds compared to now.
For a company to remain innovative and improve existing products and introduce new ones it needs to be under entrepreneurial ownership and not accountants. That's why it may be a good thing that GMC bought it.
Peter.

jow104,
Did you catch a look at the Big carved tree near the Bakery in Batlow. My wife and I had brekky at the bakery on holiday last year and nearly ran into it with my car when we left....(sorry I waiver from the topic)

Apple trees, pear trees, citrus tress, (not up here), avacardo trees, mango trees, lychee trees.... it's a crying shame seeing all that nice timber going up in anti-carbon-credits.
Just on the plastic comment... if you'd have come north you'd have seen our mosquito net trees... we have farms with acres of net over the trees to keep the fruit bats out, it looks like we actually grow nets on trees.Cliff.

Is it TRUE?????
Back ON topic! :=)
Is the document genuine?
Reasons for my question
Neither Triton or Hills have made any announcement - Hills is a listed public Company (ASX Code = HIL).
"RE: Acquisition of Triton Woodworking
Global Machinery Company GMC is proud to advise the acquisition of Triton Woodworking & Design to our product portfolio."
Triton is actually operating as Triton Manufacturing & Design Co. Pty. Ltd.
"The acquisition of the company ... allows us to get a foothold into sales of professional and industrial powertools, benchtop tools and woodworking models." ???
"For supporting retailers Triton already has approx 20-30 new products destined for release over the back half of 2005." This seems unusual - refer Sturdee's observation above.
"The new Triton products will be targeted directly at professional and woodworking users."
"For further information or to book your confidential meeting to view the new items calls David Flintoff on 8346 1100." This is main GMC number - not a direct line?
Has anyone been able to confirm the document?
What do you think?
