Box Joint Jig for Workcentre 2000?
Hi all,
Has anyone a plan for a box joint jig to suit the Workcentre 2000? I haven't been able to find a reasonable. I would like to be able to do box joints using the standard blades & I don't have a router table.
Cheers
Peter

Gday Peter, you have a couple of options I reckon
1) Make up a "finger" type jig similar to most b/j jig plans you'll find on the net, with the finger size the same as your blade thickness. Make up the jig with runners that fit in the Triton mitre slots, or with external runners that run against the sides of the saw table. Barry White has apparently successfully used polyethylene from chopping boards for triton runners-detailed in a recent thread.
2) Do a search for "Lynn's jig". This is a plan for a b'j jig that uses a length of allthread as a "lead screw" to accurately position the stock for each cut. With this jig you can cut a variety of finger widths, it is a matter of counting the turns or part turns of the lead screw between each cut. Could be a little tedious to use, counting between cuts, but there you go. A modified method (still a little fiddly) with this jig could be to accurately position and make the cuts that define the sides of the fingers, then use a fret/band/scrollsaw or chisel or some other means to cut out the waste between fingers. Still a bit fiddly though.
If you have a router I wouldn't bother with the above, I'd just make a cheap, basic router table. Doesn't need to be flash, just make it from a piece of melamine or somesuch with parallel sides, or rout out some parallel grooves, for a homemade b/j jig to ride on.
Good luck mate...........Sean, got to love jiggy jig...
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Wildberry,
If you PM me your e-mail address, I will send you plans of the micro-adjustable box-joint jig descibed in this thread

You should be able to adapt it for the Triton using Barry White's method of attaching runners.
