Brisbane Woodshow Triton Specials
Hey all...
Dropped into the Woodshow at the RNa showgrounds today...I was armed with a price list for a couple of Trion Items that I was keen to pick up...
First saw guard....couldn't find one in a shop anywhere else $35 - i guess most know why I needed a new one .
Multi-stands $50 each - picked up two! They are usually about $105 at bunnings - they had a further deal where you could buy one for $25 if you bought $200 worth of stuff.
Maxi - extension - $264 - I've seen this at Bunnies for $320 something....
The 2400w Router was $349...most other things seems to not be that heavily discounted.....
Anyway, one day left the sales guys told me they had sold heaps of stuff and were concerned about running out of some products....
Enjoy!

The way Triton stuff is discounted at the Wood Shows was the reason given by my local manager/owner of Home Hardware as to why he is letting Triton stock run out. The local magnet mart will only place special orders (little or no floor stock).

Yeah - cause everyone who thinks of buying a workcentre gets the urge at just the right time and attends the once-a-year woodshow to buy discounted Triton gear, or waits till the following year. And everyone who might impulse-buy, or wants to window-shop and work out what they want to buy in future always is happy to read a catalog and "special order" it.
What the hell do retailers want? No floor stock and an endless stream of customers at their special orders desk with blank cheques to buy equipment they have never actually seen?
Every previous year customers have been frustrated that there haven't been show discounts on Triton, when there are many other products that are, and stores don't stop stocking those. Now they are, and people finally decide to take the plunge and buy that first orange item, the retailers complain? 1 workcentre sale generates $2000 in ongoing sales. Don't retailers want that extra business?"Clear, Ease Springs"

Triton
Well, way back... when I bought the MK3 new, I was impressed with it...
George brought s'thing to the everyday woodwork guy. . .
Nowadays tho - well you can buy rigs and jigs that seem far superior to the orange pressed-steel.
You can buy precision cast-iron gear cheaper. . .
So I figure - why buy Triton?

Well I for one was only too happy to relieve them of two multistands at that price. Was also good to run into Craig, our local triton/gmc rep. he was trying to convince me to spend $200 so i could get the multistands for $25, but i said he should take into consideration that ive spent thousands on triton stuff over the past couple of years and so he should give them to me for $25 anyway, but he wouldnt budge, damn!!!, Craig also introduced me to Gordon from the head office in Melbourne and we discussed the problem im having with the hearing protection on the respirator. being the gentleman that he is, Gordon told me that if i break the earmuff arms when i try to modify them he will replace them free of charge. Now thats what i call great customer service.

On the forum it was mentioned Magnet Mart were getting out of Triton so I went over to check them out.
Saw a maxi extension for $177 at Magnet Mart on Tuesday went over to Bunnings to double check that I wasn't mixed up about the price.
It was $324 there and when I told them Magnet Mart had it for $177 They took off 10% and I got it for $154, Which I grabbed before they could change their mind. At that price its definately a bargain.

Now Durwood, if Magnet Mart permanently advertise the maxi extension at $177, so that we can buy it from Bunnings for $154, who will even look at Chinese crap?
Cheers

I dunno - infeed and outfeed support, couple more supporting a couple of lengths for a large glue-up, couple more holding a length providing side offcut support for a wide sheet being cut on the extension table.....
Ok, 6 would be about the max! (And yes, I definitely need more clamps!)"Clear, Ease Springs"
